Yang Ming has been dedicated to promoting ocean cultures and education and supporting the development of local communities. With “enhancing social participation to give back to society” as one of our sustainable development strategies, we demonstrate our empathy while developing our business, work with government organizations, charities, academic organizations, and NGOs in support of humanitarian and charitable aid, value the education and development of young people and students, offer education subsidies, expand the seafarer manpower pool, and donate important practical teaching equipment required for professional seafarer training to maritime schools. Furthermore, in line with the sports policies implemented by the government, the Company sponsors excellent athletes and those with potential. Yang Ming also actively facilitates community development to encourage the promotion of local cultures. Yang Ming “spreads” happiness to society, cares for more communities, and heads toward the future of sustainable development.
2023 /Environmental Conservation Achievements
- Collaborated with Azure Alliance, organized 24 coastal and harbor clean-ups, with a total of 1,024 employees participating, 6.55 tons of sea debris were successfully removed.
- To respond to International Coastal Cleanup Day, 309 volunteers from Yang Ming’s offices in Korea, United Arabs Nation, Belgium, India, Netherlands, Indonesia and Thailand, removed 870 kgs of sea debris.
- Collaborated with the National Museum of Marine Science & Technology for coral restoration, with 87 employees volunteering in coral grafting, cultivating 1,016 coral seedlings.
2023 /Maritime Talent Cultivation Achievements
- Continued industry-academia cooperation with National Taiwan Ocean University, Taipei University of Marine Technology, National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology and offered post-graduate courses, 110 students enrolled and scholarship of over NTD 10 million provided.
- Collaborated with Commonwealth Publishing Group, donated 600 selected books to general and vocation high school students.
2023 /Social, Cultural, and Art Achievements
- Donated NTD 22 million to YM Oceanic Culture & Art Museum.
- Employed 10 contract blind massage therapists from local non-profit organization.
- 237 employees and their families participated in environmental education events at National Museum of Marine Science & Technology and Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, and environmental documentary watching: “Lost Butterfly”.
