Complaint Channels for Onshore Employees
Yang Ming’s Human Resources Department is responsible for managing the employee mailbox and complaint hotline that allow employees to express their opinions in a real-time manner simply via email. When encountering discrimination, sexual harassment, and workplace violence in the workplace, the employees can file a complaint through the Chairman’s mailbox, independent directors’ mailbox, or independent reporting mailbox (managed by the Chief Audit Executive and designated person) or to the department concerned. Any person can report any illegal act or violation of the work rules, Codes of Ethical Conduct, Ethical Corporate Management Best Practice Principles, and Procedures for Ethical Management and Guidelines for Conduct through the aforesaid channels.
Complaint Channels for Seafarers
Yang Ming understand the thoughts of seafarers, the Company carries out 4 questionnaire surveys during seafarer training, including a survey on complaint channels for the seafarers and has an independent complaint mailbox and a sexual harassment whistleblowing mailbox in place for the seafarers, which can only be accessed by the Chief Marine Technology Officer and the Head of the Maritime Department. A sexual harassment whistleblowing hotline was also provided for the seafarers to submit suggestions and complaints. In addition, all the Company’s vessels have acquired a “Maritime Labour Convention”Note certificate and complied with the requirements of international conventions.
Note: The “Maritime Labour Convention” (MLC) is a labor protection standard convention established by the International Labour Organization and aims to ensure that the working and living rights of all seafarers are protected and promote the sustainable development of international trade and shipping.

After receiving complaints and suggestions from onshore employees and seafarers, the Company replies to the employees one by one and handles the complaints and suggestions properly and reasonably. For their detailed numbers and types, please refer to the following:

■ Labor-management Meetings
To ensure smooth labor-management communication, the Company organizes at least one labor-management meeting per quarter. In 2022, 4 labor-management meetings were held.
■ Freedom of Association
In support of the UN Global Compact, the Company ensures that all employees have the freedom of association, and all seafarers can choose by themselves if they join any union of seafarers. The Company has a corporate union formed more than 23 years ago. As of the end of 2023, a total of 1,165 people joined the corporate union, accounting for about 75% of the Company’s onshore employees and Taiwanese seafarers. Employees can join or withdraw from the union at will. Although the Company has established a corporate union, no collective agreement has been signed as no collective agreement conclusion has been made in any labor-management meetings to date.
