Yang Ming has been dedicated to promoting ocean cultures and education and supporting the development of local communities. With “enhancing social participation to give back to society” as one of our sustainable development strategies, we demonstrate our empathy while developing our business, work with government organizations, charities, academic organizations, and NGOs in support of humanitarian and charitable aid, value the education and development of young people and students, offer education subsidies, expand the seafarer manpower pool, and donate important practical teaching equipment required for professional seafarer training to maritime schools. Furthermore, in line with the sports policies implemented by the government, the Company sponsors excellent athletes and those with potential. Yang Ming also actively facilitates community development to encourage the promotion of local cultures. Yang Ming “spreads” happiness to society, cares for more communities, and heads toward the future of sustainable development.
2025 /Environmental Conservation Achievements
- Yang Ming headquarters initiated efforts from local coastlines, organizing 3 beach cleanups at the north and the south of Taiwan. A total of 108 volunteers including Yang Ming’s employees and supply chain partners participated and collectively removed 274 kilograms of sea debris.
- To fulfill the Protecting Biodiversity and Zero Net Deforestation Commitment, Yang Ming has joined an Afforestation and Reforestation (AR) Project in Taitung County. The voluntary emission reduction project is implemented by Yuan Shan Forest Natural Resources Co., Ltd., an investee of Shinfox Energy Co., Ltd. By carrying out afforestation on 2 hectares of land and engaging local residents in forest maintenance, Yang Ming aims to strengthen its connection with Taiwan and deepen ties with the local community.
- In collaboration with the Society of Wilderness, Yang Ming organized invasive species eradication events at the Wugu Wetlands. With the collective efforts of Yang Ming employees and important supply chain partners, 88 kilograms of Mikania vine was removed, contributing to the preservation of local biodiversity.
- Since 2023, Yang Ming has collaborated with the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology on the Coral Sea Restoration Program, contributing a total of NTD 3 million as of 2024. In 2025, both parties will extend the initiative by adding an additional smart coral tank to expand cultivation capacity and achieve the target of raising 1,200 coral seedlings across indoor and outdoor facilities. In addition, the Yang Ming Marine Cultural Foundation has provided a further NTD 1.5 million to support the initiative this year.
2025 /Social, Cultural, and Art Achievements
- Yang Ming partnered with a local non-profit organization to employ blind massage therapists, offering workplace services for employees while fostering employment opportunities for the visually impaired. Additionally, the company sponsored an event organized by the same organization for 3 consecutive years to enhance engagement with the visually impaired and the local community.
- In response to national sports development policy and to enhance the visibility of junior and senior high school basketball players in Keelung, Yang Ming sponsored NTD 1.5 million to support 2025 National Age-Group Basketball Championship at National Keelung Commercial & Industrial Vocational Senior High School.
- Starting in 2021, Yang Ming launched a sponsorship program for young athletes. In 2025, a total of 37 athletes have been sponsored, with funding amounting to NTD 244.8 million. Additionally, the company held its first “Marine & Basketball Experience Camp,” inviting children of employees and Taiwan Fund for Children and Families in Keelung to participate, fostering coprosperity within the community.
- The Yang Ming Cultural Foundation allocated NTD 7.35 million to the Yang Ming Oceanic Culture & Art Museum to promote marine cultural preservation, sustainability, and education. Key efforts included the Container Soap Exhibition, the donation of 500 sustainable soaps to World Vision Taiwan, the “Re-thinking” program repurposing marine-use materials into furniture, and a collaboration with the National Palace Museum to revisit the historical role of Yang Ming and the former China Merchants Steam Navigation Company in transporting cultural artifacts to Taiwan. These efforts strengthened public engagement in marine education and cultural preservation. In 2025, the museum welcomed over 27,000 visitors.
- In light of the severe impact of Typhoon Danas on central and southern Taiwan, which caused significant damage to the lives and property of local residents, Yang Ming donated NT$10 million to the Taiwan Foundation for Disaster Relief through its publicly designated account to support post-disaster reconstruction efforts.

2025 /Talent Cultivation Achievements
- Continued industry–academia cooperation with National Taiwan Ocean University, Taipei University of Marine Technology, and National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology to offer post-graduate courses, with 65 students enrolled in 2025 and NTD 8.46 million in scholarships provided. Additionally, Yang Ming offered NTD 3.42 million in scholarships to maritime academies with navigation departments and contributed NTD 1.19 million to support the Ministry of Transportation and Communications’ “Seafarer Rising Star Training Program”, offering training opportunities to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional seafaring careers. To enhance seafarer care and improve the workplace, Yang Ming signed a Industry–Academia Cooperation MOU for a “Digital Health Care Program” with Taipei Medical University and National Taiwan Ocean University. This collaboration advances smart medication solutions and health care, leveraging digital technologies and innovative smart-medical applications to strengthen the quality of workplace health care for seafaring personnel.
- Over 30% of the local workforce is employed at Yang Ming’s offices in Taiwan, including those in Keelung, Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung.
- Since 2022, Yang Ming collaborated with a local non-profit organization to employ 10 contract blind massage therapists.
2024 /Environmental Conservation Achievements
- Yang Ming headquarters initiated efforts from local coastlines, organizing 4 beach cleanups along the northern coast of Taiwan, covering Keelung's Wanghaisiang, New Taipei City's Wanli, and Longdong South Ocean Park. A total of 218 volunteers including Yang Ming’s employees and supply chain partners participated and collectively removed 712 kilograms of sea debris.
- Announced the “Protecting Biodiversity and Zero Net Deforestation Commitment” to promote biodiversity conservation.
- In collaboration with the National Museum of Marine Science & Technology for coral restoration, Yang Ming has sponsored NTD 3 million from 2023 to 2024 to establish 2 coral breeding tanks and cultivate 1,064 coral seedlings from 16 species. This initiative aims to mitigate the negative impacts of global climate change on coral ecosystems.
- In collaboration with the Society of Wilderness, Yang Ming organized invasive species eradication events at the Wugu Wetlands and Kaohsiung Yuanjhong Harbor Wetland park. A total of 101 employees and their families participated and collectively removed 92 kilograms of Mikania vine and 200 silver wattle plants, contributing to the preservation of local biodiversity.

- The Yang Ming Cultural Foundation invested NTD 8.16 million in the Yang Ming Oceanic Culture & Art Museum to promote marine cultural preservation, shipping and transportation education, sustainable recycling, and environmental education. In 2024, the museum welcomed a total of 25,876 visitors.
- Yang Ming Oceanic Culture & Art Museum collaborated with Linking Puslishing to publish a Chinese-English bilingual picture book and donated copies to 418 elementary schools, promoting reading and marine sustainability.

- Collaborated with Azure Alliance, organized 24 coastal and harbor clean-ups, with a total of 1,024 employees participating, 6.55 tons of sea debris were successfully removed.
- To respond to International Coastal Cleanup Day, 309 volunteers from Yang Ming’s offices in Korea, United Arabs Nation, Belgium, India, Netherlands, Indonesia and Thailand, removed 870 kgs of sea debris.
- Collaborated with the National Museum of Marine Science & Technology for coral restoration, with 87 employees volunteering in coral grafting, cultivating 1,016 coral seedlings.
