Yang Ming Garners a Sponsorship Award Bronze Class in 2023 Sports Activist Awards
Yang Ming financially supports up-and-coming local sports talents on a long-term and fixed-amount basis in order to facilitate communal prosperity and carry out the government’s industrial policy on sports sponsorships. The Company sponsored the 2023 BWF Tour Super 100 that was held in Kaohsiung for the first time and saw top player from home and abroad competing against each other. The Company's commitment to promoting a nationwide sports culture and supporting exceptional athletes has been recognized with the bronze sponsorship award in the Sports Activist Awards, presented by the Ministry of Education's Sports Administration.
Yang Ming has had a long history of encouraging employee participation in sports activities. So far, employees can take advantage of the 25 sports clubs dedicated to badminton, bowling, table tennis, golf, volleyball, running, yoga, basketball, skating, fitness, and so forth. At the same time, the Company is actively employing its corporate resources to facilitate competitive training for local rising sports stars. In 2021, Yang Ming kicked off the sports talents sponsorship program which so far has funded players in track and field, badminton, martial arts, figure skating, table tennis, swimming, taekwondo, roller skating, fencing, and competitive gymnastics. Over the past couple of years, the sponsored athletes have garnered a range of trophies at home and abroad.
In 2023, table tennis players Pu-Syuan Cheng and Yu-An Chang respectively won the U19 Girls’ Singles title at the WTT Youth Contender Almaty 2023 and the U17 Boys' Singles title at the WTT Youth Contender Wladyslawowo 2023. Skater Chia-Yun Lee is an active participant in international tournaments and so far has collected many medals. In 2023, she won two golds and two silvers at the European Cup in Wörgl. Gymnast Zih-Syuan Chen came third in the floor exercise (men’s) at the National Middle School Athletic Games. Ice skater Chloe Tang also came third at the 2023 Chinese Taipei National Figure Skating Championships.
Fencer Li-Hsiang Hung won a bronze in the 2023 World Cadets and Juniors Fencing Championships. Taekwondo athlete JieLing Wang came third at the Sarajevo 2023 World Taekwondo Cadet Championships. Badminton player Yu-Kai Huang won men’s singles at the Denmark Masters 2023 and was placed second at the Austria Open 2023. Martial artist Ting-Hui Cheng came second in Girl’s Qianshu (spear techniques) at the 11th Asian Junior Wushu Championships. These accomplishments not only demonstrate athletes’ talents and hard work but serve the purpose of Yang Ming’s sponsorship program.
Training professional athletes requires huge amounts of resources. Under the sponsorship program, Yang Ming is helping promising athletes to focus on training by easing their financial burdens. The athletes achieving greater performances in turn can encourage more people to take up a variety of sports. The Company will continue to promote sports and create a broader arena for local sports talents. It will also continue to fulfill social responsibility by building a solid foundation for civic sports and a long-term channel for giving back to the community.
