Yang Ming Celebrates 51st Anniversary by Hosting a Welfare Market to Send Love and Promote Environmental Protection
Yang Ming’s 51st anniversary
On December 28, 2023, Yang Ming celebrated its 51st anniversary at the HQ. Chairman Chen-Mount Cheng addressed the event and focused on the topic of fearlessness. He encouraged everyone to face challenges with such mentality. Colleagues from different departments must continue to work closely together for the company's long-term development.
The anniversary’s featured activity, "Donate a Bag of blood, Priceless Love," was held ahead of the main event at the HQ building in Cidu. Colleagues were encouraged to donate blood as an act of sending love. Following the previous practices, the event included YM clubs at a glance and charity second-hand goodies market where colleagues had great fun buying, selling and catching up.
Visitors at the pavilions showcasing YM clubs were attracted to photos and other visual documents detailing the fun and passion of members from table tennis, golf, tennis, basketball, and many other sports clubs. Whether for competition or regular exercise, these clubs do encourage more and more colleagues to take up a sport and stay healthy.
In addition to funding sports clubs, YM also organizes a variety of sports leagues from across different business sectors and tournaments that see atheletes from schools of all levels. Given its tireless efforts in pushing for a sports-friendly atmosphere in the workplace, the Company won a bronze medal of the Taiwan i-Sports Enterprise award from the Ministry of Education's Sports Administration.
At the same time, many up-and-coming atheletes such as PuSyuan Cheng, Yu-An Chang, and Yu-Hsuan Li, who are under YM’s fix-amount and long-term sponsorships, have won medals at sports events here at home and abroad. Recognizing such efforts, the Sports Administration in 2023 awarded the Company with a bronze medal of the Sports Promoter Award.
The charity second-hand goodies market is a yearly event much loved among colleagues for years. Last year, our colleagues donated a total of 1,900 items. Using second-hand goods is an act of protecting the environment. With the growing sense of sustainability over the past few years, YM not only cherished everyday items but used reusable utensils at the anniversary. Recyclable or 3R (Reduce/ Reused/Recycle) materials were used to decorate the venue to reduce the amount of disposable products and thereby care for our environment from the ground up.
YM colleagues are long-term supporters of welfare activities. During the celebration, a bloodmobile from the Taipei Blood Center was stationed in front of the Cidu HQ. At the end of the event, a total of 19,750 milliliters of blood from 62 colleagues were donated.
The welfare and second-hand items market was held in extended scope at the HQ’s first-floor plaza. Charitable organizations such as the Little happiness link Social Welfare Foundation - Bear House, Genesis Foundation Keelung Branch, Merry House Social Welfare Foundation, Yu Cheng Social Welfare Foundation, Victory Foundation - Victory Kitchen, Down Syndrome Foundation - ABRAZO, and Taipei Autism Children Society Welfare Foundation, were invited to set up booths.
These organizations welcomed colleagues as well as visitors to buy product in support of welfare purposes and allowed second-hand goods a new lease of life. The proceeds therefrom will be donated exclusively to organizations for the disadvantaged. The loving care of YM colleagues and other participants must always reach where it is needed.
Local community leaders and residents were invited to the welfare and second-hand goodies market
