Yang Ming Hosts “Marine & Basketball Experience Camp” and Supports Basketball Youth Tournament in Keelung
On August 2, 2025, Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation (“Yang Ming”) held its first “Marine & Basketball Experience Camp,” inviting children of Yang Ming employees and Taiwan Fund for Children and Families in Keelung to participate. This full-day program combined marine culture tours and DIY workshops at the Yang Ming Oceanic Culture and Art Museum (“OCAM”) with an energetic basketball camp, blending learning with physical activity, infusing this summer with energy and joy. In addition, in line with its commitment to community prosperity and nurturing local sports talent, Yang Ming also supported the “2025 Basketball Youth Tournament” organized by the Chinese Taipei Basketball Association (“CTBA”). The tournament invited Keelung basketball teams, National Keelung Commercial & Industrial Vocational Senior High School (“KLCIVS”) and Ming Chuan Junior High School (“MCJH”) to compete alongside top groups from across Taiwan, providing young players the opportunities to showcase their potential.
The Marine & Basketball Experience Camp was led by Chairman Chuck Tsai and attracted 54 young participants. The day began at the OCAM, where children explored interactive exhibits, learned about port operations, and took part in a leather ship keychain DIY activity. The program offered an accessible introduction to the shipping industry, broadened their maritime perspectives, and helped preserve Keelung’s marine culture. The event then shifted to the basketball camp. Under the guidance of professional coaches, our young participants progressed through fundamental drills, teamwork exercises, and scrimmages. Over three hours, the children transformed from hesitant beginners to confident players. The laughter, cheers, and team spirit on the court reflected not only the joy of sports but also the sense of accomplishment from overcoming challenges.
The “2025 Basketball Youth Tournament” took place from August 5 to 10. Echoing the sports policy of "Healthy Citizens, Competitive Excellence and Active Taiwan," Yang Ming sponsored the event to help lay a strong foundation for youth development. It gathered top-level competitors from around Taiwan. Representing Keelung, MCJH and KLCIVS—both with proven competitive records—faced off against skilled teams from different cities. Furthermore, hosting the event in Keelung not only enhanced the overall experience of local school teams but also increased the visibility of talented athletes on the national stage.
By continually investing in talent development within the sports arena, Yang Ming demonstrates its commitment to creating a positive and sustainable corporate impact. The Company remains dedicated to providing resources and support for the growth of the sports industry, working together to foster a healthier and more sustainable future.
