Yang Ming Continues Its Commitment to Maritime Sustainability Honored with the First "Corporate Ocean Sustainability Contribution Award"
Yang Ming has been recognized by the Ocean Affairs Council with the inaugural Corporate Ocean Sustainability Contribution Award, affirming its long-standing commitment to the core values of "Coexist with the Ocean, Navigate Sustainably." Through a series of marine sustainability initiatives, Yang Ming has actively advanced ocean conservation within the shipping industry. The award ceremony was held on November 12, with Vice President Bi-Khim Hsiao presenting the award, received on behalf of Yang Ming by President Mr. Cliff Pai.
Starting from its core operations, Yang Ming has been proactively advancing the green transformation of its fleet. The company has implemented shore power systems, smart ship management technologies, and energy-saving propeller retrofits; fully installed ballast water treatment systems; and adopted tin-free, eco-friendly hull coatings to reduce marine pollution and ecological disturbance. Since 2024, its fleet has gradually transitioned to internationally certified biofuels.
Newbuild vessels are equipped with LNG dual-fuel systems and methanol dual-fuel-ready designs to accelerate the energy transition. As of the end of 2024, the carbon intensity of the operating ships has been reduced by 62.74% compared to 2008, attaining IMO's goal of a 40% reduction by 2030.
In marine conservation, Yang Ming actively participates in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)'s "Protecting Blue Whales and Blue Skies" program, voluntarily reducing vessel speed to below 10 knots to lower the risks of whale strikes and underwater noise disturbance. The company also upholds its biodiversity policy by collaborating with the National Museum of Marine Science & Technology on coral restoration and out-planting projects along Taiwan's northeastern coast. Through the Yang Ming Oceanic Culture Foundation, it further promotes ocean education, contributing to SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships) for the Goals by fostering cross-disciplinary sustainability awareness among schools and community organizations.
Yang Ming also strives to strengthen environmental sustainability awareness among its global workforce. The company has held the "ESG Passport Program" internally for three consecutive years, offering volunteer leave and incentives to encourage participation in beach cleanups, invasive species removal, and environmental education activities. To date, employees have removed 52 metric tons of marine waste from Taiwan's beaches. Additionally, staff across 12 global offices have joined local beach and river cleanups as well as native plant restoration activities, demonstrating meaningful contributions to environmental sustainability.
Looking ahead, Yang Ming will continue strengthening its ESG governance, advancing smart ship technologies and new energy applications, and enhancing navigational safety and digital transformation. The company remains committed to collaborating with supply chain partners to safeguard the marine environment and will continue progressing steadily toward its long-term vision of ocean sustainability.

Yang Ming Advances Green Shipping Strategy by Receiving Taiwan's First Advanced IGF Code Training Certificate
In response to increasingly stringent international environmental regulations, Yang Ming continues to advance its low-carbon fleet transformation strategy by progressively replacing older vessels and deploying alternative-fuel dual-fuel vessels to provide customers worldwide with more competitive and sustainable transportation services. In preparation for the deployment of its 15,500 TEU LNG dual-fuel vessels beginning in 2026, the Company has, since April 2025, successively dispatched seafarers to attend training programs at National Taiwan Ocean University on the "International Code of Safety for Ships Using Gases or Other Low-flashpoint Fuels (IGF Code)" to strengthen crew competency and technical expertise in operating vessels using new-generation fuels.
“YM Willpower” Completes First LNG Bunkering in Singapore Advancing Energy Transition and Customer Decarbonization Services
Yang Ming continues to proactively advance its energy transition strategy in response to evolving international environmental regulations. In 2026, Yang Ming will progressively introduce newly built 15,500 TEU class container vessels primarily fueled by liquefied natural gas (LNG) into its operating fleet. The lead vessel, YM Willpower, completed partial LNG bunkering at the shipyard prior to delivery and was officially deployed on February 8 into Yang Ming’s Far East–Mediterranean MD2 service. On February 26, through close collaboration with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and energy supplier Shell Eastern Trading (Pte) Ltd. (Shell), YM Willpower successfully bunkered around 3,500 metric tons of LNG in Singapore. The LNG supplied will serve as the vessel’s primary fuel for the entire voyage. This milestone signifies Yang Ming’s concrete progress in low-carbon transformation and the provision of emission-reduction solutions to customers, further demonstrating the Company’s firm commitment toward the gradual realization of net-zero emissions.
