Yang Ming Charts a Sustainable Course Recognized with TCSA's "Top 100 Model Companies for Excellence in Overall Performance" and "Gold Award in Sustainability Reporting – Transportation Industry Category I"
Yang Ming has once again been recognized at the 2025 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA), organized by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy. Marking its fifth consecutive year of participation, Yang Ming competed in both the "Overall Performance" and "Sustainability Reporting" categories. This year, the company received the "Top 100 Model Companies for Excellence in Overall Performance" and the "Gold Award in Sustainability Reporting – Transportation Industry Category I." The awards highlight Yang Ming's commitment to sustainability practices and transparent sustainability reporting. The honors were accepted on November 26 by President Cliff Pai, on behalf of the company.
Yang Ming operates under the vision of becoming "the preferred carrier for global customers and an influential leader in the transport industry." The company continues to strengthen its sustainability actions as part of its corporate responsibility. In response to global climate challenges, Yang Ming began adopting sustainable marine biofuel for its operating fleet in 2024, while actively promoting fleet renewal, retrofitting energy-saving devices, and installing shore power systems. By the end of 2024, Yang Ming achieved a 62.74% reduction in fleet carbon intensity compared with the 2008 baseline―surpassing the IMO's 2030 target ahead of schedule.
Looking ahead, Yang Ming will continue its fleet modernization roadmap. Starting in 2026, the company will deploy LNG dual-fuel full-container vessels, followed by methanol dual-fuel-ready full-container vessels scheduled for delivery between 2028 and 2029. These efforts aim to enhance fleet competitiveness and align with global decarbonization trends.
Beyond climate action, Yang Ming declared its "Biodiversity Conservation and No Deforestation Commitment" in 2024 and further adopted the TNFD (Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures) framework. Using the LEAP methodology, the company assesses nature-related risks and opportunities across ecosystems and formulates strategies to strengthen resilience and promote a balanced relationship with nature―demonstrating its commitment to contributing to a sustainable future.
Yang Ming also upholds integrity as the foundation of corporate governance. In 2024, the company implemented the ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery Management System and successfully obtained certification in 2025, reinforcing its dedication to sound governance and ethical business practices.
On the social front, Yang Ming continues to collaborate with academic institutions to support maritime education, participate in seafarer development programs, offer at-sea internships and scholarships, and sponsor outstanding athletes―embodying the principle of giving back to society.
As sustainability challenges continue to evolve across environmental, governance, and social dimensions, Yang Ming remains committed to steady growth in its core container shipping business while balancing revenue generation with environmental stewardship. Through professional service, the company fulfills its commitments to customers; through concrete action, it contributes positively to the planet. Yang Ming also leverages its annual Sustainability Report as a key communication platform to engage stakeholders on material issues and corresponding strategies.
Going forward, Yang Ming will continue advancing energy-saving and emission-reduction initiatives, protecting biodiversity, strengthening operational resilience, and accelerating digital service development with the goal of providing customers with more efficient, safer, and low-carbon sustainable transport solutions.
