Yang Ming has been recognized for its longstanding commitment to employee well-being and fostering a supportive workplace environment. At the 2024 National Excellence in Healthy Workplace Awards organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Yang Ming stood out among numerous contenders and was honored with the prestigious Health Care Award. The award was presented on December 10 by Director-General Tzou Tzu-lien of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and received on behalf of the company by Chief Administrative Officer & Senior Vice President Caroline Chiu.
Recognizing employee health and safety as a cornerstone of sustainable business, Yang Ming upholds a people-centered management philosophy. This includes establishing a robust workplace mental health support system and implementing diverse health care initiatives. These efforts have been recognized this year with accolades such as CommonHealth Magazine's Healthy Corporate Citizen Award and the 2024 Happy Enterprise Gold Award from 1111 Job Bank, in addition to the latest honor of receiving the National Excellence in Healthy Workplace Awards. In collaboration with the Hsinchu City Lifeline Association, Yang Ming offers an Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) to both seafaring and shore-based staff, providing holistic and comprehensive care. Additionally, Yang Ming organizes a variety of workshops and activities on topics such as mental health, parenting, and retirement, as well as hands-on DIY sessions, helping employees maintain physical and mental well-being while fostering stronger interpersonal connections and alleviating workplace stress. To further support personal growth, an online library with extensive psychological resources is available, encouraging employees to enhance their health knowledge and awareness. Furthermore, in embracing the philosophy of diverse employment, Yang Ming hires visually impaired massage therapists, providing them with opportunities for self-sufficiency while offering employees a unique stress-relief benefit. This service not only supports marginalized groups but also boosts employee well-being and productivity. Additionally, the Employee Welfare Committee has long encouraged internal clubs and organized annual hiking events to foster a positive and vibrant workplace environment. For seafaring staff, the company recognizes the unique challenges of long voyages at sea and has implemented measures to strengthen emotional bonds with their families. These include allowing family members to accompany employees on voyages, facilitating onboard visits when calling to port in Taiwan, and providing options for seafaring employees to transition to shore-based office roles, ensuring their needs for family connection are met.
In terms of physical health care, Yang Ming has introduced a digital health management platform to assist employees identified as high-risk with personalized follow-up health plans. We offer health check-ups exceeding the legally required frequency and provide onsite physician consultation services. For expatriates and supervisory personnel, individualized care plans are tailored to their specific physical and mental health needs. For seafaring employees, Yang Ming collaborates with medical institutions to provide real-time emergency medical consultation services. All vessels are equipped with emergency medical equipment, including AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) and EKGs (12-lead electrocardiograms), to enhance emergency medical response capabilities onboard. These measures aim to mitigate health risks and ensure the safety and well-being of our employees.

Yang Ming Cultural Foundation Joins Forces with NTOU and Hon Hai to Promote Marine Environmental Protection and Education
The Yang Ming Cultural Foundation, National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU), and Hon Hai Technology Group (Hon Hai) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the YM Oceanic Culture & Art Museum to jointly promote marine environmental protection and education. This collaboration aims to integrate the expertise and resources of the three parties to advance the concept of "life, production, and ecology" in marine environmental education. The initiative seeks to enhance public awareness and participation in marine conservation, thereby fostering sustainable practices.
