Yang Ming Wins Two Categories at the 15thTaiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA)
At the award ceremony of “The 15th Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA)” held by the Taiwan Academy of Corporate Sustainability (TACS) on November 16, the second-time contestant Yang Ming was selected from over 400 companies to garner the “Sustainability Model Award” and the “Corporate Sustainability Report Awards/Transportation— Gold” under the “Sustainability Comprehensive Performance” and “Corporate Sustainability Report” categories. Chairman Cheng Cheng-Mount attended the event to accept the awards. For 15 years, the TCSA has served as a goalpost for local corporations to achieve sustainability and transparent governance. This year, the contestants were assessed by a jury of 874 specialists, scholars, and volunteers under a series of fair, transparent, and rigorous procedures, for which the event was widely acclaimed by corporate and other sectors. The “Corporate Sustainability Report Awards/Transportation—Gold” is a venerable recognition of the Company’s ESG disclosure that is comprehensive, credible, and communicable. At the same time, the “Sustainability Model Award” is an acknowledgement of Yang Ming's yearslong dedication to corporate governance, environmental protection, social prosperity, and supply chain management.
The issues of global sustainability are incorporated into Yang Ming's operational strategies through innovative measures, such as maritime digitalization and E-service expansion. With the construction of smart ships and big data analysis, the Company is able to effectively reduce fleet carbon emissions. In 2021, for instance, carbon intensity (CI) was down by 57.38% when comparing with 2008, which is ahead of the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) goal of 40% by 2030. While increasing transport quality and customer satisfaction, Yang Ming is incorporating climate change risk and opportunity assessment into its governance strategies to achieve overall social prosperity. In addition to implementing anticorruption and integrity operation policies, the Company also organizes events to cultivate talents and improve employees’ well-being, fulfills its social responsibilities, and ultimately aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
With continued and dedicated effort in the promotion of a sustainable development blueprint, Yang Ming has gained positive results. The recognition by the TCSA for two consecutive years is a crowning stroke at the Company’s 50th anniversary. Looking ahead, Yang Ming will keep up its sustainability strategies and exert positive impact in that vein from within as it sails towards another half century.
