Yang Ming Earns Global Recognition for Safeguarding Blue Whales and Skies
Yang Ming has actively participated in the Protecting Blue Whales & Blue Skies Program, an initiative led by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). By voluntarily reducing vessel speeds, the Company helps protect endangered whales while lowering underwater noise, air pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions. In recognition of its continued participation, Yang Ming was honored with the Sapphire Award, the program’s highest distinction, for the fourth time. The award was accepted on behalf of the Company by Thomas Zin, the assistant vice president at Yang Ming (America).
Yang Ming Responds to Earth Day Rallying Global Partners to Protect the Environment Together
Yang Ming actively supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and remains committed to marine sustainability and conservation. In celebration of Earth Day 2025, a total of 108 volunteers—including Yang Ming employees from domestic and global offices, along with supplier partners—joined forces to remove 262 kilograms of marine debris. Their collective effort in protecting the coastal environment exemplified Yang Ming’s proactive commitment to corporate sustainability and environmental stewardship.

In recognition of these efforts, the Company is pleased to announce that it has been honored with the 2024 Sustainability Partner Award - Energy Efficiency by Norfolk Southern Corporation (“Norfolk Southern”). Mr. Wen-Jin Lee, Senior Executive Vice President of Operations, at Yang Ming (America) Corp. accepted the award on behalf of Yang Ming at Norfolk Southern’s headquarters.
Yang Ming Actively Expands Green Services First Foreign Carrier to Complete B30 VLSFO Bunkering at Busan Port
Yang Ming is advancing its sustainability efforts to meet the 2050 net-zero emissions target. Beginning this year, the Company has been gradually integrating biofuels into its fleet to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In December, Yang Ming became the first foreign carrier to bunker B30 very-low sulfur fuel oil (VLSFO) at Busan Port, receiving 1,000 metric tons. This milestone underscores its commitment to emission reduction.

Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards, organized by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE), for the fourth consecutive year. With annual achievements in sustainability and transparent disclosures in its sustainability reports consistently earning accolades, Yang Ming achieved remarkable recognition in 2024. This year, the company was honored with the "Taiwan Top 100 Model Enterprises Award" for the third time in the Comprehensive Performance category and received the "Sustainability Report - Transportation Industry Category 1 Platinum Level" for the second time. The awards were accepted on December 11, 2024, by President Cliff K. R. Pai on behalf of the company.
